Capturing moments of intensity, whether quiet, raucous, still and ordered, or angry and frustrated, are at the core of Butler's work.  Layers of white with sequences of slashes, hatch-marks or shapes have grown to become her language over decades. The simplicity and directness of white is integral to all her work.  It’s an  absolute, that cannot be erased; a solid  foundation and a statement of it’s own.
